Northern Light Media author Lew Freedman was pleased to announce recently that his book, Northern Journey: A Report From The Frontier, won the First Place Award for the Best Outdoor Book category in the Association of Great Lakes Outdoor Writers (AGLOW) annual contest. He wrote, "This is memoir-like with stories about Alaska, from all around Canada and trips to Iceland and Greenland. I take great satisfaction in the recognition of this book since it is more personal than most any other I have written."
Lew Freedman is a sportswriter and former sports editor of the Anchorage Daily News and The Republic in Columbus, Indiana. He has worked on the staffs of the Chicago Tribune, Philadelphia Inquirer, and Florida Times-Union, and has authored over six dozen books on a broad variety of topics. His first book for Northern Light Media, Fifty Years of Iditarod Adventures, was published in February, 2022.
At the AGLOW conference, held in Bemidji, Minnesota, Lew also won first place in the Best of Newspaper-Open writing category for his article “Sundance Returns to County,” and took second place in the Best Outdoor Book category for his photo-rich book about Yellowstone National Park's 150 year history. The full award winners list and a wonderful collection of the award-winning photos can be found on the AGLOW website.
Lew is currently working on more titles to be published by Northern Light Media in 2024.
